This gal whose blog you do track
bought a new battery for her Mac.
The thing was a dud,
a real piece of crud,
and thus the latest entries do lack.
My brand new battery is not working. My computer won’t hold a charge. So typing while on the road has been a real challenge.
“What challenges do you face?“ in the question in 12 days journal #110

ReplyDeleteMy latest challenges have been with my almost-8-year-old daughter. She has been expressing some very honest, negative feelings about her father. Her feelings of being non-humanized by him are so very, very similar to what my own were when we were together that it has been challenging to just listen to her, understand her, and not let my own experiences with him negatively impact my interactions with her. I do think, though, that I am handling this challenge much better than I thought I would. It is challenging to be there for her, listen to her, meet her need to be heard and understood, and know that there is nothing I can do to help her except to reaffirm to her that his way of dealing with her is not the healthy way and what the healthy way actually looks like.
ReplyDeleteShe is so much like me. And that is both beautiful and daunting at the same time. I'm so glad we have each other. I didn't have anyone to turn to when I was dealing with him...I'm glad that I can be the one person SHE can turn to regarding her dealings with him. I hope that I can help her with her relationship with him in positive ways, but wow, it is challenging!
Again, thanks for your openness Angela. I just so want to encourage you to continue to simply be there for her and be the 'healthy way'! Too many fall into "YAH!I know what you mean!" pit. May you continue to find the renewal and refreshing you need to meet this important challenge!
ReplyDeleteThanks, B. Like I said, I'm doing better at it than I thought I would. Go, me! :-)
